Goalie Training – Like No Other!
The SPFSA Travel Program provides goalkeeper training for all travel teams.
The SPFSA Travel Program goalie training director, ‘Coach Mike’ Walch, simply states, “We are so fortunate to have Paul Blodgett as our GK trainer; not only is he popular among our kids, but he is a world-class GK Coach. ‘Coach Blodge’ has trained many World Cup, Olympic and Professional goalkeepers over the years”. For U-10 and below, the GK training is at 10am at Terrill Middle School each Saturday morning. Not only do the keepers work on proper technique, the coaches help them with situational soccer, unique to being a ‘young’ or ‘small keeper’.
For U-11 and above, the trainers arrive at their practice on a rotating day basis so they can get small group sessions and have very personalized attention to their game.

Paul Blodgett -
Paul Blodgett is the owner/director of the highly successful Paul Blodgett Goalkeeper Training School, LLC. With over three decades of working with goalkeepers from the grass roots level to world class athletes, Paul is recognized as one of the premiere goalkeeper coaches in the country. He has tenured with the Rutgers University Men’s Program and the WPS inaugural year Champions, Sky Blue FC, and is currently affiliated with TCNJ Women’s Program while also being the Director of Goalkeeping for the Girls ODP program for NJYS.
Paul has worked with Billy Gaudette (NY Red Bulls), Jon Conway (former outstanding MLS keeper), Bryan Meredith (Seattle Sounders, former All State SPFHS standout), Saskia Weber and Jillian Loyden (US Women’s National Team), Karina LeBlanc (Canadian Women’s National Team) and Karen Bardsley (England Women’s National Team), as well as, numerous other players, coaches and trainers at the club, high school, collegiate and professional levels.

Mike Walch -
‘Coach Mike’ is a current SPFSA coach, former Susquehanna University & Union Catholic HS goalie. He has coached many High School All State, State Champion and All County Goalkeepers. He has been with the SPFSA for over 30 years and is the former JV Boys Soccer Coach at SPFHS.
The coaches from each team will determine who from each team will attend the training each week. If you’ve been selected to attend the training, please make every effort to arrive 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. Please come prepared with a soccer ball, shin guards, cleats and water.
