The Scotch Plains Fanwood Soccer Association serves about 2,000 local children annually. Founded in 1977 at the height of America’s soccer boom, the club has taken great pride in its training programs and enjoys the fruits of its labor annually as the Scotch Plains Fanwood High School teams compete deeply in the boys and girls county, district and state championships. The SPFSA and SPFHS are independent of one another, but have always had a cooperative and reciprocal relationship regarding training, facility usage and overall support of one another. The SPFSA salutes the many scholastic championships brought home by its alumni and school coaching staffs.
SPFSA players also go on to compete at many outstanding private area high schools including: St. Benedict’s Prep, Newark; Seton Hall Prep, West Orange; Pingry, Martinsville; Newark Academy, Livingston; Oak Knoll, Summit; Kent Place, Summit; Morristown Beard, Morristown; Wardlaw Hartridge, Edison; Mount St. Mary, Watchung; St. Joseph’s, Metuchen; Bishop Ahr, Edison; Union Catholic, Scotch Plains and Mother Seton, Clark.
