Executive Board Roles

President

Oversees overall operation of the Association as supported by divisional VPs (competitive divisions) and operations VPs (finance, facilities, registration, communications, special events).  Lead spokesperson for the Association and primary liason with constituents (BOE, Town Rec Depts).  Also responsible for maintaining relationships across all town-based sports orgs for collaborative efforts.  Supports development of Association special events and program extensions in tandem with program VPs (i.e.: Special Needs Soccer Clinics, SPFSA Summer Camps, Teacher Convention Rec Skills Camps).  Lead on all disciplinary issues / conflicts.

Executive Vice President

Supports President on all  areas of responsibility.  Oversees SPFSA charity initiatives (HS scholarships, external donations) and financial aid inquiries.  Lead on securing field space for all SPFSA activities as supported by the Facilities VP which includes applying for and securing necessary permits from the BOE and Townships and overseeing allocation of permitted fields and time slots among all Association programs in coordination with the Travel , IC and House VPs.  Also maintains oversight of field closures by BOE and Town and the proper communication of those closures to membership.

VP Finance

Oversees and implements all financial transactions on behalf of the Association including accounts payable and receivable and manitaining Association bank accounts.  Initiates all processes required by law – tax returns and audits.  Supplies regular financial reports to the Board.

VP Communications

Lead on distribution of all Association communications to membership and  external audiences (local media, PTA fliers, signage, etc.).  Proactively maintains the Association’s website and Facebook page and researches other viable social media channels that would expand the Association’s reach and communications channels.  Proactively uses Association communications channels to support key Association and partner activities.

VP Facilities

Oversees weekly preparation of all permitted fields for Association programs – lining, hardware (goals/nets, line flags, rebounders, etc.).  Maintains and stores all necessary equipment for practice and match play.  In tandem with the EVP, assesses field conditions and communicates issues to field owners.  Creates a team of volunteers to “own” specific fields for regular lining and equipment checks…affectionately known as the “Field Rats.”

VP Registration (“Registrar”)

Oversees all processes related to player registration across all competitive programs in coordination with the program VPs (House, IC, Travel) and works in tandem with the VP of Communications on maintenance and implementation of the Association’s online registration portal and dissemination of key registration periods and deadlines to our membership and to potential new members.

VP Travel Club Program

Oversees daily operation of Association’s Travel Club program (U8-U17) including carding, league affiliations, trainer/coach employment, tryouts, player assessments, team formation, uniform coordination & distribution, home-game refereee scheduling and practice/game scheduling in tandem with the Association EVP and fellow program VPs.  Responsible for formation of a Travel Committee to support the administration of above responsibilities and create a viable checks and balances as it relates to the proper direction of the Travel program.  That committee also involves the Association President and EVP.   This program runs Fall, Winter (Indoor Training & League Play), Spring and Summer (optional).

VP Inter County Program

Oversees daily operation of Association’s Inter County recreational program (5th grade up to U17) including ICYSL affiliation, securing and training of parent coaches, team formation, uniform coordination & distribution and practice/game scheduling in tandem with the Association EVP and fellow program VPs.  Responsible for formation of a IC Committee to support the administration of above responsibilities.  That committee also involves the Association President and EVP when necessary.  This program runs Fall and Spring.

VP House Program

Oversees daily operation of Association’s House recreational program (PreK through 4th grade) including necessary NJYSO affiliations, securing and training of parent coaches (training via external training company – currently Red Bull Academy), team formation, uniform coordination & distribution, development of optional skills clinics and practice/game scheduling in tandem with the Association EVP and fellow program VPs.  Responsible for formation of a grade/gender-specific Division Manager team to support the administration of above responsibilities.  That team also involves the Association President and EVP when necessary.  Currently the House VP also oversees online sales of SPFSA-branded apparel via our partner Kick-n-Sticks.  This program runs in Fall, Winter (Indoor) and Spring.
