The SPFSA utilizes fields under the jurisdiction of the Township of Scotch Plains, the Borough of Fanwood and the SP-F Board of Education. Each entity determines when conditions warrant the closing of their respective fields. The communication of such is through the Ball Field Hotline @ 908-322-6700-1-226. Ideally, it is updated each weekday by 3:00 pm and on weekends by 7:00 am by the Scotch Plains Department of Parks and Recreation on behalf of all three entities.
The SPFSA makes every attempt to update its website to reflect the Hotline message on weekdays, but is especially vigilant on weekend mornings regarding game schedules. All website information is entirely dependent upon the representatives of the three field entities submitting their field status in a timely manner. Information regarding private facilities such as Wardlaw Hartridge and Union Catholic will only be updated via the website.
The SPFSA does reserve the right to stop play if field or weather conditions deteriorates to the point of creating a dangerous situation. If fields are open and/or play is in progress game officials, division managers, coaches, parent managers or trainers have the ability to halt play. Thunder and/or lightning are grounds for immediate suspension of play.
